Predicting the Unpredictable

What a crazy playoff picture! There have been some unexpected turns no one thought would happen.

The Cleveland Indians were projected to win the World Series, having the best record in Major League Baseball, but failed to the New York Yankees (91-71) in the American League Division Series (ALDS). The Indians led the series with two games going to Yankee Stadium.

The incident that happened at Game Two with manager Joe Girardi brought the team closer together because of the amount of hate Girardi had been getting from people. The Yankees pitching and hitting stepped up during the last three games. Let’s see if this sense of momentum will lead them to beat the Houston Astros (101-61).

The Houston Astros took over against the Boston Red Sox (93-69) and won the series 3-1. Jose Altuve, who is the major league batting champion, excelled at the plate with three home runs in Game One and had big hits in other games to lead the Astros to victory. Astros pitching was on point with Justin Verlander and Dallas Keuchel.

Defending champions Chicago Cubs (92-70) had a wild series against the Washington Nationals (97-65). The series could have gone either way, but the Chicago Cubs came in clutch during crunch time.

In Game Five, Addison Russel drove in four runs and Wade Davis earned a seven-out save to reach the Cubs to the National League Championship Series (NLCS). Every time the Washington Nationals reach the playoffs they succumb to pressure; however, they fought hard and it was a great matchup to watch.

Los Angeles Dodgers (104-58) routed off with an insane offensive performance to sweep the Arizona Diamondbacks (93-69) 3-0. Cody Bellinger, Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner were all big contributors. Turner has been a surprising contributor by homering and driving in five runs during Game One, leading the Dodgers to victory. The pitching needs to step it up in the NLCS as Clayton Kershaw did not bring his “A” game.

I predict the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers will be in the World Series this year. Both teams have had incredible seasons winning each of their divisions. The Houston Astros have star pitcher Verlander and Keuchel. In Game Two of the ALCS, Keuchel had ten strikeouts in seven scoreless innings against the Yankees. Carlos Correa and Altuve needs to stay strong in these next two games heading to Yankee Stadium. The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking sharp in the NLCS. Chris Taylor and Puig were huge contributors, each adding key home runs in a 5-2 victory. Tuner put on quite the show and had one of the biggest moments of his career with a three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Dodgers past the Cubs 4-1 in Game Two. The Dodgers now head to Wrigley Field with a 2-0 lead over the Cubs. Let’s see if the Dodgers great start can pull through to the World Series.

I predict the Houston Astros will beat the New York Yankees in seven games. The Dodgers will beat the Chicago Cubs in five games. The World Series matchup will end with the Los Angeles Dodgers beating the Houston Astros in six games. Let’s see how this wild playoff series turns out!
