Jimmy Fallon Crowned ‘Emperor of Comedy’

The Harvard Lampoon awarded comedian and actor Jimmy Fallon with the Elmer Award for Excellence in Humor on Saturday, crowning him the “Emperor of Comedy.”

The undergrad humor publication members fanned Fallon with palm leaves while fans lined the streets cheering during a small parade before the award was presented to him.

Lampoon members presented Fallon with a giant check for 85 cents, to which he put in a giant wallet. Fallon was also given a fake diploma as well as a Harvard Lampoon necktie.

Fallon was a member of Saturday Night Live for six years, where he was in a variety of skits as well as co-host of ‘Weekend Update’ with Tina Fey. In 2004, Fallon left SNL to begin his film career where he was in films tlike Fever PitchWhip It and Taxi.

In 2009, Fallon became the host of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and later transitioned into becoming the sixth host of The Tonight Show in 2014.

Previous recipients of the Elmer Award have been Jay Leno and Robin Williams.
