So far, the campaign for the 2016 Presidential Election has proven itself to be a memorable one. There have been predictable candidates and ones that came out of nowhere, and we all know who I’m talking about. Donald Trump has taken over this campaign and is the most talked about.

Since there is still a little over a year left until Americans around the country go to the polls, we can all expect changes and surprise moments to come. As of now, the front runners for the Democrats include Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Jim Webb, Lincoln Chafee, and possibly Joe Biden, the current Vice President of the United States. On the Republican side, we have Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Rand Paul, Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, and Donald Trump. These are the candidates most likely to continue in the race and that have the highest numbers in the polls.

Jeb Bush is the brother of former president George W. Bush and was governor of the swing state Florida.

The main issues being discussed at the debates and campaigns are on education, immigration laws, border patrol, global warming, abortion, and most recently the controversy over gun control laws after the school shooting in Oregon. Some candidates have similar views on these topics, while others have extremely opposing thoughts.

While it is still early, there have been a few leading candidates. Currently, Jeb Bush and Donald Trump are leading the GOP candidates.  In front of them is Hillary Clinton for the Democratic party. As eligible voters, we should take our opportunities to vote and use them as best as we can. It is important to make informed decisions on these topics and to not be swayed by those around us and in the media.
